Equestria Logement
Equestria is a suburb in the far east of South Africa’s de facto capital, Pretoria. Its far flung location means that it is quieter than the centre but, perhaps surprisingly, excellently positioned along major transport routes, making popping into Pretoria’s CBD or scooting off to Centurion or Johannesburg exceptionally easy.
As its situation on the outskirts of Pretoria may suggest, Equestria is one of Pretoria’s latest additions, as far as suburbs go. It is largely residential, but unlike older parts of the city where large, beautiful, rambling homes may be the norm, Esquestria is the land of simple and modern, where housing complexes and estates rule the roost. It is a fairly self-sufficient area too, with its own shops, small businesses and malls. Menlyn Mall is a large shopping centre and attracts a large crowd of ‘Equestrians’, especially over the weekends. It boasts all the usual mall attractions from sparkly boutique stores to restaurants, cinemas and other entertainment options.
For an altogether different form of entertainment, one might head to one of the outdoor attractions in Equestria’s neighbouring suburbs. Faerie Glen’s nature reserve, for example, is a popular place to go walking and birdwatching, and with the lovely Bronberg Mountain as a backdrop, it’s easy to understand why.
The N4 highway, which connects Johannesburg, Pretoria and Nelspruit, cuts through the northern part of Equestria, demonstrating just how easy it is to get around from here. Furthermore by following the highway a short distance you will find yourself at the Pretoria National Botanical Garden, headquarters of the South African National Botanical Society and home to gorgeous landscaped gardens, perfect for picnicking, and many birds and small mammals.
