Graskop Reviews

Graskop
A world of wonders!

Graskop
Graskop may be a small town, but it's in the middle of everything. It's the perfect base from which to explore the Panorama Route, which incorporates the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and various beautiful waterfalls. It's also a perfect stop-over if you're on your way to the Kruger Park: only 43km from Numbi Gate and 52km from Phabeni Gate. It also has much more affordable accommodation (such as Mogodi Lodge) for those wishing to explore Pilgrim's Rest, which is only 15km away. If you're after an adrenaline rush, then the Big Swing and slide are right there at the Graskop Falls. There are also various curio stalls alongside the road where you can get typical African things including the popular "manekis" ("mannetjies" - painted little wooden statues in a range of personalities). The town itself has all the facilities you need - and those who like pancakes will not be disappointed!

We used it as a base from which to explore Pilgrim's Rest, since we couldn't afford the accommodation there. We also spent a day exploring the Panorama Route, which was stunning. And after that, it was on to Kruger Park, less than an hour away. We also did our final "big shop" at Graskop, since there's a lack of fresh food in Kruger Park, and prices are also high there.
