Harare Accommodatie
Harare is a city in Zimbabwe, one of South Africa’s Land locked neighbours. The city is located in the north east of the country and is the capital. It is the industrial and commercial hub and also the seat of government, needless to say, this, the largest city if Zimbabwe, is a vital settlement for the country’s economic well-being.
It lies in the heart of an agricultural area which produces tobacco, maize, cotton and citrus fruit. It is thus also an important trade centre for these commodities. These crops are supported by Harare’s subtropical highland climate, which ensures 7 months of warm weather. September to October are traditionally hot, dry months, while November to March are warm and dry.
Harare was once a grand, if small city, but Zimbabwe’s economic and political difficulties of recent history have left the city a little worse for wear. Despite its slightly neglected appearance though, there are still some interesting and impressive sights to explore. One of the most obvious heads up to Zimbabwe’s colonial history is evidenced in its architecture. One of most impressive buildings to check out is the Mining Pension Fund Building near the centre of Harare.
For art fiends, the National Gallery hosts rotating exhibits of various local and international artists’ work and also has a collection of Shona soft-stone carvings, which are an important aspect of Zimbabwe’s culture and heritage.
For those who enjoy outdoor attractions you can visit the National Botanic Garden, which has examples of flora from all over Zimbabwe. The Mukuvisi Woodlands showcase the natural vegetation found in the Harare area and are home to various game such as giraffes, zebra, bushbuck and eland.
