Hatfield Verblyf

Hatfield is a popular neighbourhood in South Africa’s de facto capital city, Pretoria. It is an upmarket suburb with a comfortable atmosphere, pretty with many things to do and close to many points of interest. Its central location is its winning characteristic and many locals and visitors find themselves very happy to be in his part of Pretoria.

Hatfield is situated in the heart of Pretoria, a few kilometres to the east of the central business district. It is, in equal doses, a young vibe-y suburb and a quiet, leafy one. The streets are tree lined and the gardens well-kept – contributing to its upmarket feeling. Its young energy on the other hand is a result of the high student density. The University of Pretoria is nearby after all and the area is dotted with communal student houses.

Another thing which attracts students and tourists alike to Hatfield is its reputation as Pretoria’s main party hub. Hatfield Square in particular has a large number of bars, restaurants and clubs which are overflowing on weekend evenings. During the day, the sunny plaza is a nice place to grab a coffee or al fresco lunch, and it is sunny most of the year, given Pretoria’s penchant for long, warm summers with sunny weather and brief, late afternoon showers, and cool sunny winters.

Hatfield has 2 shopping malls, with all the necessary amenities. It is close to the university, the Loftus Versveld Stadium and the N1 freeway and OR Tambo International Airport can be reached in half an hour. It is also one of the main Gautrain stops (The Gautrain being South Africa’s premiere mass rapid transit railway).
