Montana (PTA) Unterkünfte
The suburb of Montana is a relatively young one when compared to Pretoria’s more central suburbs. It is located in the north east of South Africa’s de facto capital city, close to the Magaliesberg mountain range. Despite being a mere 15 kilometres from the Pretoria central business district, Montana has a distinctly spacious and even rural feeling.
The suburb is located in a block between the N4, N1 and R513 highways, giving it good transport connections to other parts of the city, even though it is right on the outskirts of Pretoria. Its location on the outskirts means that it is less developed than other parts of Pretoria, which for many people, makes the area more attractive. In between new housing developments – modern and presentable- are open tracts of bushveld, interspersed with small koppies (little hills), and of course the lower slopes of the Magaliesberg hover in the background. The lower density population also means that there is less traffic here and that the air is slightly fresher.
While Montana has plenty of amenities, from hospitals and schools to shopping malls and restaurants, there is no doubt that for tourists, most of the action happens outside of the suburb. This isn’t a problem though as a short drive into the centre will open up a world of architecture, museums, restaurants, bars and other attractions. For the outdoorsy, the Roodeplaat Dam Nature Reserve across the N4 is the perfect place to go if you fancy a bit of fishing and hiking. Overall it is a good nature-y destination.
