The Storms River area lies right in the heart of the picturesque Garden Route. It is 65 kilometres from Plettenberg Bay and just under 700 kilometres from Cape Town on the N2 road. This region is full of jaw-dropping scenery and more adventure activities than you can count on your fingers. The Garden Route, on which Storms River is located, is a renowned tourist attraction for its unique vegetation and the large variety of activities that are on offer. To give you some idea of the scenery which awaits you at Storms River, imagine a settlement tucked between the Indian Ocean and the tall mountain ranges which encircle the area. The area between these two notable landscape features is dotted with fynbos, interrupted by spectacular indigenous forest.
To make things even more dramatic, the Storms River itself (as well as other smaller rivers) carves gorges into the mountain side and divides the landscape with its black languid form. Eventually it meets the ocean in an arresting location of jutting rocks, black river water and blue sea surrounded by greenery.
Some of the adventures to be had in and around Storms River include abseiling, mountain biking, canopy tours in the forest, black water tubing in the river and hiking in the nearby mountains. Monkeyland, the well-known primate sanctuary outside of Plettenberg Bay is a hop skip and jump away as is the Bloukrans River Bridge, one of the highest bungee jumping points in the world. For an underwater adventure, you can embark upon the novel snorkelling trail in the Tsitsikamma National Park just outside of Storms River.
As you can see Storms River is not only scenically rich, but the activities in the area will keep you busy for weeks.
