There is a variety of vegetation ranging from indigenous forest and fynbos to commercial plantations. One thing that cannot be denied is the vibrant greenery all around you. Furthermore, the steep mountains, rivers and high rainfall conspire to create deep gorges in the rock, making for sum really fun outdoor pursuits like abseiling.
For other novel experiences you could try black water tubing i.e. sitting in a tube and floating down the Storm’s river or do a canopy tour, which involves zip-lining between platforms set high up in the trees, learning about the forest life that inhabits this level.
A trip into the national park will be rewarded with a designated snorkelling trail, suitable for beginners as well as some very easy hikes which take you into the indigenous forest, allowing you to absorb the sights and sounds of this magical place. Plettenberg Bay, the base for many a whale/seal/dolphin watching boat tour is also within an easy driving distance.
Other things to do in the area include mountain biking along one of the designated tracks which also take you through the forest, go skydiving or on a much tamer note, go and look at the big tree which more than lives up to its name!
