Wellington Verblyf - 2
Wellington is a small town in the heart of the Cape Winelands. It is surrounded by gorgeous scenery – mountains, farmlands and fynbos. It has a vibrant little restaurant scene and of course, a lot of renowned wineries. What makes Wellington special is that it gives you access to the luxurious world of fine food and wines as well as the adventurous one of hiking and exploring the mountains.
Wellington is located about 75 kilometres from Cape Town and can be reached via the N1 highway in under an hour. It is just 10 kilometres from Paarl and other Winelands towns. The little settlement lies in a picturesque valley tucked between the Berg River to the west and the Hawequas Mountains in the east. It is at the foot of the Bainskloof Pass – one of the oldest mountain passes in the country.
Wellington’s community is sustained by agricultural activities such as wineries, table-grape and deciduous fruit farming. There are also a few brandy distilleries dotted about. Visitors to Wellington are often drawn in by the Wellington wine route, which comprises 21 members of various sizes, from established commercial farms to small family wineries and garage producers. They are all within an easy drive of each other so taking a tasting tour is well within the realm of possibility.
Exploring the Bainskloof Pass is another activity that you shouldn’t miss. Apart from being one of South Africa’s original passes, it was also impressively constructed. Today it is a national monument which offers breath-taking vistas of the farmlands below as well as showcasing some beautiful fynbos on the mountain side.
Wellington is a picturesque little place and there are many outdoor activities to be pursued in the surrounding landscape. There are 3 small nature reserves in the area which offer great hiking trails and picnic spots. You can also indulge in some mountain biking on private trails or go horse-riding through the vineyards.
Holidaying in Wellington appeals to a broad spectrum of people as it offers everything from boutique hotels to small guest houses, and BnB’s.

Alison Vlok het 'n bespreking ter waarde van R3200 by Oude Wellington Wine & Brandy Estate gewen
I am absolutely thrilled to win a refund on my last holiday booked with Sleeping Out! As we cannot travel far this Christmas Holiday season it was a perfect break within my own province and I would like to do it again sometime when possible. Oude Wellington turned out to be a lovely holiday with everything they had on offer to help us relax.
