A Festa Portuguesa 2014
A Festa Portuguesa, the festival which celebrates Portuguese culture and food, is taking place once again at Carnival City in Brakpan from 23-28 September 2014.
Fabulous portuguese food, tradition, music and fun are on offer at A Festa Portuguesa 2014, presenting the many sides and personalities of the Mediterranean-hugging home of the Fado.
This year, music will be main attraction with performances from new local talent, popular international Portuguese artists, and a fabulous dance duo. The lineup includes well known Portuguese star Jorge Ferreira, Ruizinho de Penacova, Bombocas and massively succesful local band, Mi Casa. Expect to hear a unique mix of traditional, contemporary, pop and dance music, all with a Portuguese flair.
Patrons can also indulge their tastebuds with everything from fine dining, to portuguese street food, beer, wine and port. Some of the delicious portuguese fare you can expect to savour include prego rolls, piri piri, espetada, prawns and much more.
Portugal is a country rich in history and tradition, with an influence which extends over the Mediterranean, Mozambique, Angola and all the way into South Africa. The event is endorsed and supported by The Consul-General of Portugal in Johannesburg, and this year is extra special as Heritage Day falls during the course of the event - which should provide a unique opportunity to celebrate our own special blend of Portuguese and South African heritage.
There will also be a massive kids play area including a whole fun fair, an inflatable park and the Portuguese Scouts.
The festival kicks off at 5pm on the 23rd of Septmeber and opens at 11am everyday thereafter until the closing ceremony at 8pm on the 28th of September 2014.
