Amateur Olympia Africa 2015
The Amateur Olympia Africa championship is being held for the first time on 25-26 October 2014 in the Big Top arena at Carnival City.
The event provides local athletes, athletes across Africa, Middle East and the UK, together with supporters of the bodybuilding sport, the opportunity to participate in a world recognised event on home soil on the African continent. The Olympia event has been running for some 50 years and has played a major part in the development of world renowned athletes. These include household names like Arnold Schwartzenegger.
This International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness(IFBB) event will host all national selected athletes from Africa, Middle East and United Kingdom to competein six leagues, namely Women's Fitness, Women's Physique, Bikini, Men's Bodybuilding and Men's Physique. The winners of these six events will receive IFBB Pro Cards.
Pre-juding for Amateur Olympia Africa will be held on 25 October and the finals on 26 October, with Master of Ceremonies played by renowned bodybuilding personality Shawn Irvin Ray.
The 2014 IFBB Olympia Amateur Africa will also include a seminar, conducted by IFBB Officials. The seminar is taking place on Sunday the 26th of October and is open to all judges, but restricted to existing qualified IFBB judges.
This is a significant international event and has previously been staged in the UK (2010), Kuwait (2012), Bahrain in 2013 and Prague in 2014 for the first time in the history of amateur competitions, will now be hosted in South Africa.
The event is organised in S.A under the leadership of the South African Bodybuilding Federation President, Wayne Price, and his team, with the close support of the IFBB and the African Federation headquarters.
Carnival City provides for 5 000 multipurpose seating, state of the art technology and a venue renowned for reliability and service excellence, perfectly suited to an event of this magnitude. The venue is also only 25 minutes drive from OR Tambo International Airport, making it convenient for the event's international visitors.
