Cape Town Festival of Beer 2018
The Cape Town Festival of Beer is considered the most comprehensive festival of beer in the entire Southern Hemisphere. This year it makes its return to Hamilton’s Rugby Club in Green Point from 30 November - 2 December 2018.
Currently in its 9th year running, The Cape Town Festival of beer is a celebration of the craft beer of local and international.
Participating brewers include well known stalwarts like Carling Black Label to the exclusive boutique types with a growing populace, Darling Brewery. Visitors can expect to taste the wares of microbreweries, mega brewers, craft brewers, artisans and backyward brewers.
Unbeknownst to many, Cape Town is actually a big producer of beer. From massive producers like SABMiller to the medium scale Newlands Brewery, the smaller-scale craft beers of Boston Brewery and microbrewers like Gallows Hill, Valley Bru or Saggy Stone - Cape Town certainly has it all.
The festival promises great entertainment for beer enthusiasts and connoiseurs. The lineup features a variety of brewers, a variety of delicious and beer, an array of food stalls, music and live rugby on big screens.
Visitors will be able to get thair hands - and lips - on some limited edition beers that have been brewed just for the festival. They will also learn more about the appreciation of artisanal beer and perfect food choices to pair with each brew.
Participate in blind tastings. There will also be a beer judging competition, beer merchandise for sale, lucky draws, raffles and the world's biggest game. A new addition to the festival experience this year are guided beer tours with veritable experts - visitors will be taken around to meet brewers and sample a variety of beers, watch home brewing demonstrations and of Beer Pong.
The Giant Beer Pong includes 1.5m tall beer cups and soccer balls instead of ping pong balls.
The festival will open gates at 12pm and close at 8pm daily. Private tables available for reservation.
