Cape Town Prawn Festival 2017
Some might consider the pairing of prawns with galloping thoroughbreds to be strange, however, the Cape Town Prawn festival has cemented itself into a must-do event for the Summertime. If you're a horse racing enthusiast with a passion for seafood, then make your way to Kenilworth Racecourse on the 25th February 2017.
Over the last couple years, The Cape Town Prawn Festival has formed part of 'Summer of Champion Series' - a highlight on any race-goer's social calendar. Spectators can tuck into platefuls of fresh prawns while placing bets on the outcome of the Grade Three Vasco Prix Du Cap and the Grade Three Chairman’s Cup.
Delicious prawns are served with your choice of starch, either chips or rice. Accompany your seafood with a selection of sauces - peri-peri, lemon butter or garlic butter. There will also be other fare available for those who don't enjoy seafood. Apart from the racing and indulging, there will be live entertainment to add on to the festivities - ease into the racing spirit with music performances by local artists. The little ones can also partake in special activities to keep them entertained throughout the day. Kiddies Entertainment includes face painting, colouring in, a story corner, magic shows and much more!
Entry to the event is free and gates will be open from 11:00 to 19:00.
