Cape Town Pride 2018
The annual Cape Town Pride Festival commemorates diversity and the struggles that have and are being fought in the name of sexual equality. The ten-day event aims to create awareness around issues impacting on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex communities through workshops, marches, fashion shows, movie nights and an array of miscellaneous activities. The festival is hosted by Cape Town Pride which is a Section 21 Non-Profit Organisation.
This year's festivities will encompass the rainbow-coloured parades, parties and pageants that it has come to be known for, kicking off from 23 February - 3 March 2018.
Every year, the highlight of Pride is the big march in Cape Town’s CBD. Other anticipated highlights include old favourites like the Ms Cape Town Pride and the Pink Party, as well as newer favourites such as Divas's Day and the celebration of Mardi Gras. The varied itinerary includes film premieres, workshops, pool party, picnics, a book fair, parties and parades throughout the 10-day festival.
The festival is driven entirely by volunteers who put their time, effort and energy to make it a fun, empowering and meaningful event for LGBQTI and straight people alike.
