Community Chest Carnival 2016
The Community Chest Carnival 2016, a pop-up amusement park which attracts some 80 000 visitors, returns to Cape Town for the 64rd time this year.
The annual four-day carnival makes its return to the Maynardville Park in Wynberg from 30 March - 2 April 2016.
This year’s festivities will feature the usual wholesome food stores at the 'Food Truck Lane' as well as international food from 'Mini World'. Apart from their famous street-style fare, there is a whole lot of entertainment to be enjoyed, including live music performances by local legends and comedy evenings with Cape Town's best funnymen. For the kids and teens, there will be movie nights at the amphitheatre and a 'Battle of the School Bands'. Fashionistas and style-gurus can enjoy various fashion shows at the 'Petticoat Lane'.
Community Chest Carnival started as a theatrical garden party in 1951 and has become a summertime family tradition in Cape Town over the years. Proceeds from the carnival benefit numerous charities supporting a wide spectrum of causes.
The carnival will be open from 6pm to 11pm on Wednesday and Thursday, 5pm to 12am on Friday and 12pm to 11 pm on Sunday.
