FNB Joburg Art Fair 2017
The FNB Joburg Art Fair, Africa's leading contemporary art expo, makes its return to the Sandton Convention Centre from 8-10 September 2017.
Currently in its 8th year running, the organiser, Art Logic in association with FNB, started the project with the aims of growing a sustainable arts industry with a solid base of local and international buyers. With the dedication of numerous galleries and sponsors across South Africa, the fair has grown from strength to strength, showcasing the works, and creating a platform for, upcoming and established contemporary artists. Today, the fair sees the annual flocking of art appreciators to Johannesburg to peruse and purchase the works of over 300 artists.
This year's lineup includes a number of special features. A veritable highlight enjoyed by returning visitors are the VIP programme that has hosted the world's top directors and curators from prestigious institutes, including The Tate Modern and Centre Pompidou. There will also be a series of talks which invites big names in the art world, critical theorists and philosophers to participate in panel discussions related to contemporary art.
In addition to talks over artwork and perusing through the works of various artists, event-goers can experience the critically acclaimed special projects to which the organisers have been tirelessly working on. This year, the focus is on experiental film and live performance.
