Franschhoek Uncorked Festival 2017
Franschhoek Uncorked is yet another popular event happening in the beautiful valleys of Franschhoek, nestled in the Cape Winelands. This year it takes place from 16-17 September 2017 and offers attendees the opportunity to welcome in Spring through sipping on an array of vintages and new releases.
The Franschhoek Valley, which is a mere 45-minute drive from Cape Town central, is an easily accessible and scenic getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Mother City.
With the sprawling vineyards and the magnificent Groot Drakenstein mountain range as a backdrop, visitors are invited to ‘farm hop’ from one participating winery to the next for a host of wine tastings, and to stock up for the festive season.
As the event takes place over Heritage Day, each estate will be pairing their newly released varietals with food grilled over an open flame.
Some of the wineries that have participated in the past have included Lynx Wines, the smallest wine estate in the Franschhoek Valley, producer of award-winning shiraz, Antonij Rupert Wines and finally Noble Hill, a 30-hectare vineyard producing wines from the estate vines. These estates were just a handful of the participants. In 2017, you can expect a similar variety.
Aside from the food and wine pairings, the Franschhoek Uncorked festival will grant you the opportunity to check out some of the art exhibitions around town which will be opened to the public throughout the duration of the festival. Furthermore, there will be live entertainment and children's play areas at selected wineries and indulge in some outdoor shopping at the fresh food market.
A weekend pass will grant you access to all wineries, a complimentary tasting glass, and wine samplings.
