Hermanus Wine and Food Festival 2016
The Hermanus Wine and Food Festival, having been voted as one of South Africa's top 10 wine events, is a celebration that brings together 65 of our country's premium wine and craft beer producers. From the 6th to the 8th of August 2016, lovers of wine, food and beer will be able to sample and purchase refreshingly cold brews, glasses of fine Sauvignon Blancs and Merlots, and indulge on gourmet cuisine prepared by top-notch chefs. The event takes place at the Curro School in the Sandbaai Hermanus.
The Hemel en Aarde area is the heart of the Hermanus wine route, which follows the R320 road and meanders through the scenic Overberg region. The area’s wine repertoire is growing and the clay-like soil and cool sea breeze have given rise to internationally acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varieties. Popular producers to look out for, both at the fair and on the world wine stage include Hamilton Russel, Creation, Arumdale and La Vierge.
Over the three days the fair runs, visitors can expect tastings and sales at cellar prices, restaurant stalls, deli-style treats and live music. As always, the Hermanus Food and Wine Festival is a kid-friendly event, drop your kids off at the special activity area while you explore the show's offerings.
The show runs from 5pm to 8pm on 6 August, and 11am to 5pm on 7 & 8 August 2016. Tickets will be available from the Wine Village and at the gate, and will cost R50 per head for entry and R100 per head for entry to the wine arena.
Hermanus is famed for being the best land-based whale watching location in the world and August is just the right season, so take advantage of the opportunity to catch a glimpse yourself while you are there.
