Holi One Cape Town 2015
The world’s most colourful festival, Holi One, returns once again to Cape Town on 14 March 2015 at the Grand Parade.
The festival is inspired by a Hindu cultural celebration of the arrival of spring and the passing of winter, and marks the victory of the good over the bad. During the celebrations the caste system is temporarily ignored and all people are equal, symbolised by all people being equally coloured with flower-based liquid.
In the Holi One Festival version, vibrant bags of paint powder are thrown into the air on the hour every hour by crowds of revellers, creating a massive explosion of colour. Some of the best local and international musicians and djs will be performing live on the day, contributing to the overall atmosphere of fun and youthful abandon.
The theme for 2015 is ‘colour day and neon night’.
Since your body and clothing is your canvas for this event, it’s recommended to wear white to make for the starkest contrast. The colour powders used are non-toxic, water soluble and made from corn flour and food colouring, so they will wash out with no problem and are eco-friendly.
Holi One attracts thousands of visitors each year and has been hosted in 30 different cities, from Berlin to Singapore. Book now to be part of the magic.
