Juliette Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival 2016
If you're a self-proclaimed wine aficionado, then you'd best not miss out on the prestigious Juliette Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival. The two-day event is set to take place from 12-13 July 2016 at the upscale Johannesburg venue, Summer Place.
The event was incepted over two decades ago and is now a unique marketing platform that connects talented South African winemakers to connoisseurs. Each year, founder Juliette Cullinan handpicks 50 elite wineries to showcases their finest vintages. Only vintages of distinction and quality are presented to a discerning audience. Since 1990 entire new wine growing areas have opened up in South Africa with winemakers offering an ever-changing and increasingly wide range of cultivars. Says Juliette Cullinan, "We’ve built our reputation on continuity, celebration and a commitment to offer the best experience for both winery and taster."
The event is an ideal forum for interactions with cellar masters, where festival-goers get to 'meet the faces behind the label'. Not only will you get to sample a vast selection of fine wines, but you have the opportunity to discuss the tastes and unique maturation processes of the varietals.
While the 2016 exhibitors have not been released, last year's event included a string of award-winning estates, including the likes of Anthonij Rupert Wyne, Avondale, Beyerskloof Wines, Bosman Family Vineyards, De Wetshof Estate, Eagles' Nest Wines and others.
Tickets for the event will be available online from April onwards and will cost you R190 per head. While tickets will be available at the door, there are limited numbers, so get your tickets soonest to avoid disappointment.
