The Crazy Store Magaliesburg Challenge 2016 - 7
The Magaliesburg Challenge is a sporting event geared toward athletes who are fit, active and are passionate about trail running. Each year, individuals from all over the country flock to the Magaliesburg region to take part in a series of trail runs. The popular event takes place on 13 August 2016 at Van Gaalen Cheese Farm, in the surrounds of the imposing Magaliesburg Mountain Range.
While the event has not been organised with absolute beginners in mind, there are a number of events that vary in difficulty and length. Runners who are looking to take it easy can opt for the 12 Km River Trail; while the 22 Km route, comprising of tricky descents and a couple of strenuous uphills, is designed for individuals who are looking to challenge themselves further. The 36 km run is not for the faint-hearted, with its steep hill climbs and thrilling descents, and for the more superhuman of folk, the 50 km Guinea Pig Run is the equivalent of a full marathon and has been designed with the professional and seasoned runners in mind. If you have children who are athletes-in-the-making, bring them along for the 'Kiddies Dash on the Farm'.
Following your run, enjoy a day out on the Van Gaalen Cheese farm, in the surrounds of the majestic mountains and other sweeping vistas. Relax on the sprawling greens or on the terrace with a glass of wine in hand. As exercise is bound to build up a bit of an appetite, book a table at the farm's restaurant for a hearty meal. Alternatively, indulge on a picnic lunch on the Skeerport River. If you like what you taste and are looking to take some home with you, you can purchase various cheeses, wines and preserves from the Farm Shop.
Entries for the run include a first Ascent performance T-Shirt, a cap valued at R500 and all after-race services - think massages to rejuvenate those weary, tired bones.
If you think you've got what it takes to compete, enter into the Magaliesburg Challenge today!
