Mercury Wine Week 2016
Every year, South Africa’s East Coast comes abuzz with activity as vino-lovers chat, nibble on gourmet food and taste wines from some of the country’s best producers. The Mercury Wine Week, KwaZulu Natal’s premier wine show and one of South Africa’s largest wine events, runs from 24-26 August 2016 at the Greyville Convention Centre. The event is named after its sponsor, one of KwaZulu Natal’s largest newspapers, The Mercury.
Mercury Wine Week will take you on a journey to discover and explore hundreds of wines. Attendees can walk away with a spectacular array of wines available at cellar prices.
In 2016, there will be dedicated tastings during the evening, hosted by various award-winning estates. It is an opportunity for visitors to have 20 dedicated minutes where they can taste and learn about the particular wine/s being shown. It’s a great forum to learn more about the grapes of the vine through interactions with cellar masters.
There is no extra charge to attend the dedicated tastings, but seats are limited, so make sure you are seated at least 10 minutes before the presentation starts.
The event takes place at the Greyville Convention Centre and guests can spend the evening sipping some of the best wines you can imagine, whilst enjoing an array of deli food which will be on sale to match the assorted wine offerings.
While a classy event for seasoned wine drinkers, Mercury Wine Week aids an organisation in need, the Hibberdene Children’s Home. Each year, proceeds made from the event go toward sponsoring seaside holidays for underpriviledged kids.
