NashVegas 3 The Man in Black
From Bruce Springsteen to Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers to John Lee Hooker – the music of all these and more are summoned in the rollicking story of American music to be retold one night only, in the Swartland town of Riebeek Kasteel at The Barn on the 2nd November 2024.
Dubbed NashVegas, the event is back by popular demand for its third run. This time, however, there’s an extra reason for an epic party. Renowned host venue – The Barn restaurant – celebrates its fifth anniversary!
In unravelling its own inspiration, The Black Bear Band takes the audience from the swamps of the Mississippi Delta to the juke joints of Memphis, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville to the folk explosion of Upstate New York.
The whole shebang is an open-air show (weather permitting). Just 80 tickets are available for sale. Picture long-tables, strings of festive lighting and the magical backdrop of one of South Africa’s most scenic villages.
The music of other greats in the line-up at NashVegas 3 include Elvis Presley, of course, JJ Cale, The Eagles, Chris Stapleton and The Band. Black Bear will perform a number of hit covers as well as original material influenced by these great artists and their music.
The show was inspired by singer-songwriter Craig Banks’ visits to Nashville and a supergroup of Cape Town musicians. In addition to Banks, the band comprises Wayne Pauli, David Goldberg, Malcolm Aberdeen and Damian Staz who have amassed 40 years of playing and interpreting this music they love.
The evening gets underway at 18:30. Specials on food and drink will be advertised on The Barn’s social media channels.
Seating will be provided at long-tables, with the valley vistas as backdrop to what promises to be a spectacular evening.
