National Quilt Festival 2015
The National Quilt Festival is an event held every second year in celebration of the art of quilting. This festival, the 18th of it's kind, takes place on the beautiful grounds of Kearsney College, on the outskirts of Durban from the 3rd to the 6th of July 2015.
For those who don't know, quiting refers to the creative process of making a quilt including the quilting layers of fabric itself as well designing, piecing, appliqué and binding to create a masterpience. It is a popular hobby and art form.
The very first National Quilt Festival was held in Cape Town in 1988 and have ever since been held biennially and attended by quilters from across the country as well as outside of our borders.
The Quilt Festivals are organised by quilters themselves and planned with quilters in mind, making for the ultimate experience for quilting enthusiasts. A committee of dedicated quilters work hard to ensure an intinerary that appeals to creatives and makes for a memorable experience. With classes to help quilters hone their
skills and inspire progress, an exhibition of some of the best quilting pieces around and the opportunity to shop for quilting supplies to your heart's desire it is a veritable mecca for creative quilters.
