Sonar Cape Town 2014
Sónar is an international festival of advanced music and new media art, usually based in Barcelona, Spain and for this first time this year, taking place in Cape Town.
Sónar is more than a music festival, it has a unique format and content, combining cultural offerings with, the avant-garde, and experimentation with electronic dance music. Since 2002, Sónar has hosted more than 50 festivals all over the world, all charcterised with Sonar's Barcelona festival philosophy on physical spaces and unique environments as the venue for showcasing the best international and local talent.
Cape Town's recent accolade as World Design Capital 2014, as well it's increasing recognition as a key destination in the electronic dance music sphere, made it the natural choice for Sonar's official South African debut and, along with Barcelona, Tokyo, Reykjavik and Mexico, will make up the quintuplet of cities to host Sonar in 2014.
Sónar Cape Town will be taking place on the 15th and 16th of December 2014 and, staying true to it's design theme, it is being held at the iconic Good Hope Centre with it's uniquely designed 1970's architecture.
The line-up for the festival includes:
Christian Tiger School
The bloody Beetroots
Sibot & Toyota
Spoek Mathambo presents Fantasma
The event runs from 4pm till late on Monday the 15th of December and re-opens at 11am, running until late on Tuesday the 16th of December.
