Soweto Fashion Week 2015
Soweto fashion Week is a platform for upcoming and already established designers in South Africa and this year it will be taking place from 18-21 November 2015 at the Soweto Theatre.
The aim of this unique show is to promote talented African designers on a global scale, grow the SA fashion industry and introduce change in the modelling and fashion week runways in South Africa.
The show was founded by Stephen Manzini, who decided to start his own fashion week (and later stores and magazines) instead of merely complaining about 'elitism' in South African Fashion.
The South African fashion industry is tough to crack with minimal resources and most designers have had to do with minimal equipment and an almost zero budgets. Support for these designers is a definite necessity and the Soweto Fashion Week aims to do just that.
Previous designers have included: Dejavu, Floyd Avenue, Freshwear, Kemisoul, Love Beats Cafe, Loxion Kulca, Pabatso Exposee, State of the nation, Urban Zulu, UJU and Woolaholic.
This year's show will feature only 12 carefully selected designers throughout the three days and end on a high note as some designers will walk away with the opportunity to show their garments in international showrooms.
This is a fabulous marketing and advertising initiative for designers, fashionistas and corporates.
