Led by the prominent South African conductor Eddie Clayton, Disney’s The Lion King LIVE in Concert in collaboration with FNB, will offer families a unique musical experience that will provide memories that will last a lifetime. Passion, excitement, adventure and laughter from the 2019 film, with its iconic characters and unforgettable story, will be brought to life in goose-bump-producing and spine-tingling new ways, as the impeccable world-class Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra provides a live performance of Oscar® and GRAMMY®-winning composer Hans Zimmer’s original motion picture soundtrack.
It is with great “pride” that world-respected composer and African vocal/choir arrangement producer for the film, Lebo M, will participate with Eddie Clayton and the orchestraon opening night, 10 December. Lebo M was specifically chosen by Hans Zimmer to collaborate on the unforgettable soundtrack to the 1994 animated global hit, which earned the two a Grammy® Award, and his voice is appropriately the first to be heard as the show begins, a timeless salute to one of our nation’s great creative legends.
The enormous 84-piece orchestra will perform the original soundtrackwith seamless synchronicity throughout this screening, guaranteeing an astonishing audio-visual experience for the whole family, with sweeping, soaring audio and state-of-the-art pioneering filmmaking techniques displayed on the big screen, this is a must-experience event, a first of its kind in Africa.
The orchestra will not be in a traditional pit but on stage below the massive screen and will be made up entirely of South African musicians, keeping this historic show proudly local. From the moment the timeless first notes are heard, audiences will be swept up in an exceptional storytelling experience.
