TransCape MTB 2017
The TransCape MTB is an iconic seven-day South African mountain biking journey over 675km taking 130 intrepid adventurers over seven incredible stages and 12 000m of vertical ascent from the picturesque Garden Route town of Knysna to Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands.
It’s an all-inclusive, unforgettable luxury off-the-bike experience and an incredibly rewarding on-the-bike journey over some of the finest mountain-biking terrain in the country.
TransCape is a full service tour. All on and off-the-bike needs are met, including on-road nutritional, technical and medical support, three meals a day, delightful hotel and guest house accommodation and all transfers between overnight spots and stage starts and finishes.
The field is limited to 130 riders. Riders can either enter as 2-rider teams or solo entrants.
Volvo Cars, with their unique cyclist detection system on certain models, have announced that they will be the official vehicle partners of the 2017 TransCape mountain bike race.
“We want to team up with a partner which shares our values, and seize an opportunity to showcase how incredibly well our vehicles and safety systems fit in with a cycling lifestyle,” she said. “TransCape ticks all the boxes.”
ASG Events chief executive Wynand de Villiers said the supply of support vehicles – 12 Volvo XC90s – was key for the organisers. “Because the TransCape is a full-service event, transporting the riders is one of the week’s most crucial aspects."
“They are transported from the finish areas and race villages to their hotels and guest houses, and back again, on a daily basis. This year they will be riding in style.”
Each participant stands a chance of winning a Volvo bike carrier valued at R10 000.
