TriRock Cradle of Humankind 2015
An exciting new event in the triathletes calendar has been introduced for 2015, with TriRock Cradle of Humankind.
This inaugural event will take place at Hero Adventure at Heia Safari nestled below Swartkop koppie adjacent to Cradle of Humankind on the 15th of February 2015.
The half Ironman distance triathlon course starts with a swim in Lake Heritage, Africa’s largest handmade stone dam wall. Following that, the cycle will take contestants to hidden parts of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site and the run will keep you focused with its undulating course.
Gauteng Tourism has seen the merit in staging youthful events to celebrate the heritage and beauty of this pristine area. All departments, including Provincial Roads, have come together to make a swim, cycle and run (triathlon) possible.
The building of a tar road has been authorized to facilitate this event and is currently under construction. The road will allow the athletes access from the site of their 1,9km swim, to the surrounding roads to complete their 90km cycle leg out to the Hartbeeshoek Radio Astronomy Observatory. Full road closures will ensure that
the roads are free from traffic to ensure the safety of all competitors. The athletes will complete their 21km run portion of the triathlon in the magnificent and attractive Hero Adventure Park.
Many of the country’s top triathletes are already committed to competing on the day The stories of victorious participants will be legendary and enduring.
