Winelands Chocolate Festival 2016
The Winelands Chocolate Festival is a first-of-its-kind culinary experience of South Africa. This year, chocolate-lovers can make their way to the Blaauwklippen Wine Estate in Stellenbosch from 20-21 August 2016.
The idea came about through a quest to find a truly sublime chocolate experience. The aims of the event are to offer a new source of inspiration to enthusiasts, teaching attendees the secret behind chocolate making and the history of the much-loved treat. It also serves as a platform for upcoming and established chocolatiers, chocolate artists and patisseries; by revealing their potential, talents and creative talents to an appreciative audience. Visitors can look forward to a novel form of retail therapy, the tasting and purchasing of locally produced, heavenly chocolate.
Highlights of the event include chocolate tastings from over 40 artisanal chocolatiers, patisseries and confectioners, demonstrations from some of South Africa's top chocolate professionals (including Abigail Donnelly), stylish cake competitions, as well fashion shows displaying unique-occasion, evening wear and jewellery.
The Winelands Chocolate Festival is designed to appeal to all ages. The Chocolate Theatre, taking place in the Manor House, will present chocolate demos, educational talks and tutored tastings with brandy, whisky, or wine. There will also be workshops and chocolate playtime for children, timed in such a way, so that while adults are watching the chocolate demo, their children can have fun playing games safely in the room next door.
Back by popular demand, a series of Lindt Tea events will be making their return. To ensure that no one misses out, there will be two morning and two-afternoon sessions. Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a welcoming glass or bubbly or bottled water, and during the tasting, a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
Food stalls will be providing delicious gourmet treats and guests can wash these down with premium wines, freshly-brewed coffees, hot chocolate, craft beers and quality MCCs. Festival-goers can enjoy their meals on the expansive lawns of Blaauwklippen whilst listening to live music.
Venture out to Stellenbosch for a weekend of chocolate-inspired activities in beautiful surrounds.
