Anford Country House & Restaurant

From R600 PPS

Anford Country house is situated on Anford Estate in Mpumalanga between Belfast and Machadodorp on the escarpment. The original house was built in 1872 and was recently refurbished and turned into a Country house and Restaurant for the passing travellers on the N4 highway. Accommodation for 20 people in various en-suite room configurations can be catered for. A private family unit with three bedrooms is also available.

Anford Country house is situated in a natural Pine forest on the escarpment with several dams and waterfalls flowing next to it. All the dams are spring fed and are well stocked with trout for the fly fisherman. Scenic walks through the forest to the waterfalls and Boer war sites are for the more energetic.

Anford lies on the foot of the Steenkamps mountains and has sandstone formations. The water has cut valleys through the ancient formations and is home to some very rare fauna and flora.

Who would've thought that two nights away from home could be so profitable!
- Anne-Marie Mischke

I was not too impressed. The facilities were basic, but adequate and clean, but neither the cracked electric heater nor the electric blanket worked, and the nights in Belfast are cold. The breakfast was way below par. Worst of all: when I came back from the wedding I attended, at 10:30 pm, my room wasn't serviced and the bed was unmade.

I had a great stay. The rooms were very neat and we really enjoyed the electric blankets on the beds!!! We had a nice healthy meal on Friday evening and the staff were friendly at all times!!! Will surely come again.

Quick feedback on enquiries and received such a warm welcome on arrival.

Very quiet and peaceful , service was excellent.

Very nice place ! Would recommend it to anyone.

Lovely little place with friendly people. the only gripe I have is that the trout fishing is non existent. Full of weeds and NO FISH!

Otherwise lovely and clean with good food and friendly staff. Will be frequenting Anford again!
