Blommekloof Country Cottage is a delightful 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house which has been tastefully renovated, is exceptionally well equipped for that escape from the madding crowd, yet close enough to all the surrounding cities and towns to make day trips and then escape back to the lull of the countryside, the stargazing and a little fishing.
Sleeping 6 - 8 persons easily, with a cot provided for little ones. Blommekloof is pet and child friendly. All we ask is that when not in the yard the dogs are kept on a leash so as not to chase the chickens, geese or calves. Fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, hiking, fynbos collecting, birdwatching, star-gazing, braaing and enjoying the peace + tranquillity are just some of the daily enjoyments here in this little secret paradise.
Rates are based on per person per night and depends on the length of stay and how many people. The rates include everything - from your fire + braai-wood to dishwashing liquid and black bags, bedding, towels, toiletries etc - all you really need bring is food, drink and personal toiletries......... and dog beds if the 4 legged members of the family are joining you. We don't take 1 night bookings over any peak periods but are always negotiable over other periods.
Nestled in a valley of the Outeniqua mountains, just off the Robinson Pass near Ruiterbos, lies the undiscovered hamlet of Leeukloof. Meander a little further into the Valley across the bramble lined Witwater river and you will come across Blommekloof Farm. On this peaceful farm you will find the beautifully renovated, well appointed 3 bed roomed self-catering Guest cottage, over-looking several tree lined dams. Blommekloof is a picturesque and lush 16ha farm situated just off the less-travelled Robinson pass. Once an old mushroom farm, the current owners are gradually winning the battle against the black wattle and providing a haven for birds, butterflies and bees, as well as a home for Belle & Panda, the 2 resident cows and their calves, Piglicious the pet pot-bellied pig, who thinks she's a ridgeback, and numerous other 2 and 4 legged visitors. In the early hours of the morning you may well catch a glimpse of the gentle and shy bushbuck going by or the raucous hadedas taking off for a day's foraging. The 3 dams are stocked with bass, and all have resident families of moor-hen. Meditating whilst pretending to fish is welcomed, as long as it is on a catch and release basis, otherwise just take a dip to cool off after that long hike through the fynbos and Ruiterbos forest. There are many species of bird that can be seen, and if you are a night owl, then the clear windless evenings will offer up something very special for the amateur astrologer. One of the most wonderful things about Blommekloof is that the cell phone reception is poor, and the TV is non existent. It gets its name from the abundance of Arum lilies that turn the valley white with their blooms. The cottage has 3 bedrooms (2 en-suite) and sleeps 6 with an additional 2 if you utilize the sleeper couch in the big and comfy lounge with fireplace. The kitchen has all the necessary mod-cons, right down to muffin trays, and opens into a spacious dining room. There is an outside braai area, with as much firewood as you can burn, as well as a boma for sitting around the fire and catching up on lives lost to the rat-race. For those days that it's a little on the cooler or damper side, there is a library to loan or swap, as well as a cupboard full of board games. Towels and linen are provided (except for swimming towels), there are fresh eggs from the farm, and in the vicinity you can get farm fresh milk, feta cheese, olives, and a variety of farm produce.........
