BLOUHUIS FARM SELF CATERING COTTAGE
FARM STAY
We offer a self-catering cottage on a small working cattle and sheep farm in the Klein Karoo. The guest cottage was the original farm house and is 160 years old. The cottage has been restored and remodeled with all modern amenities. Which includes a fully equipped kitchen area, portable braai. Bath and shower in the bathroom.
Guests can participate in the daily operations of the farm, walk in the beautiful veld and along the river, or simply relax and enjoy country life.
We have an interesting cacti garden, so far 70 bird species have been identified on the farm, and the Klein Karoo fauna and flora is in abundance on the koppies. We have made roads in the veld for easy walking.
We are 18.5kms to the scenic R62 Highway which is a very popular tourist route, or 50 kms from Riversdale off the N2. Lovely drive through the Garcia Pass.
There is a queen-sized bed in the main bedroom and a single bed in the lounge area.
Our kitchen area is equipped with fridge, 2 plate cooker and microwave, or enjoy the outdoors and braai. You know we have wonderful starry Karoo nights.
The Klein Karoo is experiencing a terrible drought at the moment, so we are only producing Red Angus cattle and Dorper sheep. Our lands are dry and unproductive at the moment, and therefore have to purchase feed to give to the animals. We are proud to say we are totally off the grid on this farm. Said goodbye to Eskom a few years ago and have not regretted a moment. Usually sunny days out here to feed our system, but if not, we just have to be cautious with electricity until our next sunny day. We have our own water and there is not a single roof space that does not have a tank to store water. We have a few dogs - labradors and a collie, cats and chickens.
Unfortunately, at the moment our river at the bottom of the property is, at the moment dry but if and when it has water it is good for swimming.Walks in the veld observing the flora and fauna, rock formations, koppies and wonderful delightful starry Karoo nights can not be missed. We always look forward to welcoming guests to Blouhuis Farm.

Where pricing is “per unit” the Average Price Per Person based on maximum occupancy is used for the price range comparison. A search made for Homes and Villas however will always be based on the full daily rate of the unit irrespective of the number of people the unit sleeps.
