Overview

STAY 2 NIGHTS MID WEEK AND GET THE 3RD NIGHT FREE!

Please when making an inquiry for accommodation, please stipulate which room, or type of accommodation you are interested in, ie: Narina suite or the Forest cottage self-catering.

Forest creek is set in a private nature reserve, in a gorge of the Steinkampsburg mountains.
It is only when one gets to the gate of Forest Creek Lodge that the rock-strewn grassland is left behind, one climbs up, and up, and one enters this little enchanted world.

On this magnificent piece of land we hope we have catered for everyone, from Luxury guest suites at the main lodge* to the Forest Cottage, Bee Eater, The Beach Cottage & Sunbird self catering options. During the cooler months, come and enjoy the Big Fireplace in the Lodge Lounge. There are hiking trails along the stream under the canopy of trees. Treat yourself to an hour or two of relaxation in our Forest Spa.

HIKING TRAILS
One of our unique activities at Forest Creek are the Hiking Trails in the "Cloud Forest".
The trails are designed for the entire family, and are most suitable for the even not so fit person. Under this canopy of trees and at the edge of the Mountain one feels very small, in comparison to the magical views.
The walk to the Waterfall is approximately 2 kilometres, winding through the forest and criss crossing the stream in several places under the canopy of large indigenous trees.
One is likely to hear the baboons barking and spot the odd bush buck or red duiker and see the Cinamon Doves, Narina Trogon's and Lourie's that frequent the forest.
In the wetter months the ferns, orchids and wild mushrooms offer spectacular opportunities for the more photographic inclined.
A tree platform built in a large fig tree above the forest canopy, is an ideal stop for birders or to just relax and enjoy a picnic!
Scattered in the forest are remnants of old stone structures some of which are supposedly several thousand years old and are under study at present.
The forest is beautiful, friendly and safe.

Forest Creek Lodge is a haven for honeymooners - celebrating your first, fifth or fiftieth, you will be inspired by the romance of this incredibly exclusive, private place.

A question often asked is "Where are you?" The only way we can explain this is to say, if you were in Dullstroom and jumped off the mountain, you would land in our gorge (Box canyon).

"Dear Forrest Creek Lodge

I would like to thank you for the wonderful service, and personalized attention Mr & Mrs Porter received from the staff at the lodge. Mr Porter mentioned he would have loved to have spent more time (at least 'a couple of days'). They felt so welcome and special. Mrs Porter said 'it's the Garden of Eden'. So well done, and for international guests to comment so highly of an establishment in South Africa, makes me truly 'Proud to be a South African'." 3rd March 2010 - Nicola Urquhart

"Thanks for a perfect weekend. You know just how to make your guests feel special! We appreciate the beautiful dinner on Saturday and all the nice romantic touches. Forest creek is truly a magical getaway!" Sept 2009 - Pieter and Marisa Potgieter

Guest Comments

Positives: Personnel very friendly, beautiful scenery, Dinner - meat was excellent!!
Negatives: Home page list activities which are not available: trout fishing and clay pigeon shooting. How is this possible? Only activity at lodge = hiking trail.
The last 4 km dirt road to establishment is very very difficult, even with an 4x4 vehicle. Not practical to drive down hill for horse riding or Jet ski,No wifi or cellphone reception anywhere at the lodge - I could not let my family know that I arrived safely. Cappuccino on the menu, but it is definitely not cappuccino !!Forest Creek Lodge & Spa definitely not value for money - R3500 per night for 2 people sharing!

- Harold Pretorius

We had a wonderful relaxing time at Forest Creek Lodge. It is a beautiful spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of Jhb. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the staff are wonderful. The only negative comment we both have is that the 'spa' needs some TLC and properly trained therapists.
- Engela Calitz

Everything was great, it was our fourth time here!
- wim willemsen

Fantastic setting, beautiful rooms and great staff. The drive up to the lodge however is difficult especially in the rain! It is a very bumpy, narrow dirt track; climbing & winding high into the hills - hence the wonderful setting. Would recommend a 4x4 vehicle.
- Christine Wall

Truly God's little hide away! The service, staff and food were all exquisite. The hike to the waterfall will be with us forever and we'll return as soon as we can. Many thanks!
