An undiscovered natural paradise, Fynbos Estate on 300 hectares of vineyard and nature reserve, is in the Paardeberg Mountains an hour from Cape Town. Tranquil and beautiful, our guest house and cottage provide comfortable relaxed accommodation, delicious country or gourmet food, and the sampling of our own Dragonridge wines. Our pavillion offers a magical space for small functions.
This is the ideal place for extended families or groups of friends, as well as for workshops and celebrations. The 11 roomed farmhouse has 4 double bedrooms with private bathrooms, and an additional room without bathroom. All rooms are big enough to accommodate additional occupants should people want to share. For individuals, couples and small families, there is a charming cottage with its own private patio and garden. Accommodation can be catered, partly catered or self catered. Should you wish to celebrate a function or hold a workshop, the pavillion can accommodate 60 people. Finally, if you want to rough it, we have a 6x3 mountain hut which we let out or exchange for conservation work. We are dog friendly provided dogs are sociable and like cats.
Fynbos Estate is a wonderful place to relax and regenerate away from the city. You can lounge on the wide verandah, explore the lovely garden, swim in the pool under the mountain, or walk among the vineyards. Gentle excursions or more adventurous hikes take you into the Nature Reserve and up Sonkop Peak and Dragon Ridge. For those less inclined to walk, the mountain top can also be reached by road with any high clearance vehicle, not necessarily a 4x4. If you are a mountain biker, this mountain road is a challenge and a delight. During the colder days of winter, you might like to browse the library and enjoy a cosy fire in the lounge. All through the year we offer wine tastings of our own wines and wines of the area. During harvest time, we run winemaking weekend and day events, where you can participate directly in making wine. For children there is a big garden to explore and farmyard animals to feed. For guests wanting to visit surrounding areas, the Riebeek valley is a half hour away and we are close enough to the West coast and Winelands for day trips. Malmesbury with its many shops, are 15 minutes away.
