Gentle Breeze Retreat is a charming guest house located in the little country town of Parys that lies on the southern banks of the Vaal River about an hour’s drive from Johannesburg.

Gentle Breeze Retreat is a charming guest house located in the little country town of Parys that lies on the southern banks of the Vaal River about an hour’s drive from Johannesburg. Accommodation is offered in a variety of individually decorated guest rooms including 2 separate guest rooms in a cottage. Each room is equipped with comfortable beds, a private bathroom, a TV with Netflix, and a tea and coffee station and filtered water. Some rooms have their own kitchenette and air-conditioning. Wi-Fi internet access is available. Guests can take a dip in the swimming pool, make use of the braai area, or simply relax in the lush garden and enjoy reading a book. Secure parking is provided. Parys is a small vibrant attractive town on the banks of the Vaal River, the Northern Free State region of the Free State Province. Parys is the ideal breakaway from the city life as it is close enough for weekends way, however quiet enough to feel like you can relax. Just outside Parys is a farm cultivating South Africa's only black raspberries which visitors can have the experience of picking berries straight off the bushes during harvest season March - November. Parys is known for the Vredefort Dome, a large asteroid impact site. The dome is South Africa's 7th World Heritage Site. Every year on the first weekend in November, the Parys Dome Adventure Festival takes place, with craft stalls, adventure activities, sports and music. Parys is the only place along the Vaal River that you will find rapids, this makes it great for water sports enthusiasts, with white water rafting and kayaking as the firm favourites. The town has a lot to offer visitors to the area, it has unique geology with a diversity of flora and fauna. The town offers all the amenities and luxuries of a city, however retains its magical small town charm.
