More than just a guest house, Gilgal is a working smallholding blending rustic charm with warm hospitality for leisure or corporate travellers. Accommodation comprises 3 options: The Holiday Apartment Cellar, One-Bedroom Cottage, and the Queen Suite. The Holiday Apartment Cellar is a deluxe apartment that comprises 1 bedroom with an extra-length queen-size bed, a sofa bed, and 1 bathroom. The unit boasts a well-equipped kitchenette containing an air fryer, a 2-plate stove, a fridge-freezer combo, a microwave, and other appliances. The living area features a fireplace for cold cosy evenings. The One-Bedroom Cottage is a deluxe cottage that offers 1 bedroom with an extra-length queen-size bed and 1 bathroom. This charming unit boasts air-conditioning, a fully equipped open-plan kitchen with a 5-plate gas stove, an air fryer, a coffee machine, and other appliances. The spacious living and dining area features a fireplace for cold winters. The Queen Suite is a superior suite that is furnished with an extra-length queen-size bed and features an en-suite bathroom with a shower. This unit offers air-conditioning, a TV with streaming apps, free Wi-Fi, and a patio with garden views. Breakfast is included to start a day fresh and full of life. Sit in the dining area where the guests can choose eats from the variety on the morning menu. Although both the Holiday Apartment Cellar and One-Bedroom Cottage have self-catering appliances, complimentary yoghurt, fruits, and granola will be provided. Guests are welcome to make use of the communal KolKol hot tub and communal BBQ/braai area on the property. Free secure parking is available on-site. The beautiful little town of Stellenbosch, roughly an hour from Cape Town, lies surrounded by the Stellenbosch Mountains in the Jonkershoek River Valley in one of the most picturesque settings in the Cape. The name ‘Stellenbosch' is almost synonymous with the wine industry. Not only does it have the oldest wine route in the country, and arguably the most famous, but the town has one of the most modern experimental wineries in the world, and the only viticultural and oenological department in the country at its university. For the nature lover, there are a number of excellent hikes in the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. The full-day Vineyard Hiking Trail, a fairly new 24-kilometre-long trail, starts on the slopes of the Papegaaiberg and winds its way through vineyards, forests, olive groves and coastal renosterveld.
