My husband contacted the owner of Isilwane but unfortunately he did not reply to our email. We booked the entire bush camp out for 4 nights over the Xmas period.
It is beautifully decorated, looked really clean, and we saw plenty of animals coming right up to the camp especially in early mornings. I am sad to say that the only downfall was that on the first night the deep freezer did not work and most of the food we had for 16 people for 4 nights went off quickly in the heat. We could not get hold of the owner and there was no backup plan in place. In two of the lodges despite our readiness for insects in bush,( we were equipped with insects sprays and bands and automatic insect sprays) we got eaten alive by what seemed to be bed bugs or something. It is a beautiful place I really wish the owner took a little time and effort to get back to us. I understand it is holiday time and self-catering but when you know the place is booked out months in advance, please ensure that facilities and all equipment etc are fully functioning.

We are a group of writers of children's books and booked Isilwane Bush Camp for our Retreat. It was perfect. We had complete privacy as we had the camp to ourselves. The setting was wonderful. We used the dining table under the Lapa to work and periodically we'd look up to see animals at the waterhole across the fence. One morning we were treated to the sight of a rhino and her calf but the best sighting was of three elephants hosing themselves down in the heat.
The kitchen is very well-equipped. It was great to have a dishwasher. The fridge, however, does need to be replaced as it doesn't seal properly.
