Great to win. Was a perfect stay in the guesthouse booked via Sleeping-Out. This is another cherry on the pie.

Great people. Very friendly and help you with everything they can.
WiFi not everywhere available in the rooms.

The guest house needs a good deal of TLC and updating to justify the prices being asked. Common Areas: There is a "communal" lounge/reception area with TV and Internet, but lights were out by early evening and it felt rather uncomfortable to be there if one needed to use the Internet or wanted to watch TV. One felt compelled to whisper while we sat there as it felt as if you were in a stranger's house...rather uncomfortable. Guests coming in after "lights-out" tip-toed by...
The owner has 3 dogs that rule the roost...while we absolutely love dogs and these were quite friendly, the house smelt heavily of "wet dog" and there was dog hair all over the furniture in the lounge. Fortunately, we are not allergic, but pity anyone who is or does not like dogs around them. These lovelies also provided a 6 am wake-up call each morning, so no alarm clock needed. Rooms - (We had 2 for 2 nights...the last 2 on the passage). Furnishings and decor is outdated...few squashed mosquitoes here and there on the walls. Rooms are adequate and quite clean, but not inviting...Breakfast is adequate: I feel sorry to have to leave a fairly negative review, but the standard really was not there and we have travelled extensively throughout SA (and the world) so have numerous points of reference and this really was not value for money nor of a high standard. We definitely would not return nor recommend the guest house.

Maputaland Guest House is a nice place to stay. We stopped over for two nights and received a warm welcome by Gisela, the German owner. She is friendly, very helpful, has lots of travel tips and recommendations and even supports you with your bookings (e.g. highly recommended boat cruise on the river that we did).

We would visit again and can recommend it as a good place to stop in St. Lucia.
