A feel-at home place to stay in a small quiet and safe town. A beautiful view on the wheat fields and mountain. No traffic, no crime no noise. There is a swimming pool for the brave ones and a lovely patio with braai facilities to just sit and enjoy the tranquillity of the small town living.
There are waterfalls, lovely hiking trails, one of the best golf courses, Beaverlac for day trips, 4x4 courses or just space to sit and do nothing.There's space for about 25 - 30 people to sleep.
Porterville is a picturesque town on the slopes of the beautiful Olifants River Mountains at the foot of Voorberg. It was established in 1863 after Frederick John Owen, one of the original 1820 settlers, subdivided his farm, Pomona into plots, naming the town after the popular Attorney General of the Cape, Sir William Porter.
Hiking trails, to places called De Hel and De Tronk, reveal dramatic rock formations and an abundance of flora and fauna. De Hel has one of the largest natural rock pools in South Africa. The name Waterfall Trail was given because of the constant waterfalls which flow down towards undulating wheat fields. You could also enjoy the Tulbagh Cellars with their own unique organically produced wines.
