Overview
Paardeplaats, is a paradise for nature lovers, seeking a peaceful retreat in nature in the mountains. It is a n off-grid establishment that runs on solar power, gas and a love of nature. Bring your families, spend time with your children. We call this 'family therapy'.
These rooms were all built on the original stone foundations of the three different gold mining ruins, dating back to the 1850's, linked with shady stone pathways, lantern lit at night. All rooms have WIFI, solar powered lights and power points, unaffected by Eskom power outages. We normally have good reception for 'WhatsApp' on your cell phones.
Paardeplaats being 500ha in extent, was proclaimed a Nature Reserve, in 1956, and is a bird lovers paradise. We also have a variety of small game including oribi, grey rheebuck, mountain reed buck, duiker, klipspringers, blesbuck, eland and kudus. There are also baboons, porcupines, honey badgers, brown hyenas, black-backed jackals, rooikatte and at times, sometimes frequently, even leopards. We boarder on the Gustav Klingbiel Nature Reserve on our western boundary.
