Situated with views of the Drakensberg Mountains, Sandford Park Country Hotel is steeped in history with an eclectic mix of old and new, romanticising one’s senses. Established in 1850 as a British garrison for troops sent to relieve the besieged town of Ladysmith, Sandford Park allows the history of the region to narrate the essence of the hotel. Located conveniently off the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban, 1 kilometer from Bergville, Sandford’s 41 hectares of unsurpassed natural beauty and tranquility takes advantage of the dramatic views of the seductive Berg. Guests are accommodated in 50 tastefully decorated and spacious en-suite rooms. With a choice between 26 traditional thatched rooms furnished in charming cottage style with picturesque garden and dam views. The 24 executive rooms are finished with modern fittings, have bathrooms with a separate bath and shower, DSTV and patios with stunning views of the berg.
Sandford’s pub has a folklore reputation as the “best in the Berg”. Brimming with charm and character, this watering hole reflects its 150-year history with memorabilia from passers-through who have visited this warm and unforgettable meeting spot. The thatched chapel provides for a picturesque wedding setting amidst perfectly manicured lawns and a stunning rose garden.
The chapel also doubles as a conference venue providing the perfect get away for a relaxed berg conference.
