Stonehaven River Lodge is located 13 kilometres from Stilbaai, positioned on a working farm along the Goukou River. The property provides direct river access suitable for swimming, waterskiing, stand-up paddle boarding and canoeing, making it a practical base for travellers seeking outdoor activities close to the coastline. Guests can make use of the double kayaks and SUP's at Stonehaven. The river setting offers calm water conditions throughout most of the year, supporting both recreational use and wildlife viewing from the banks. Stonehaven boasts it's own private slipway for the launch of small to medium sized ski boats. The surrounding farmland features quiet gravel roads that are suited to running, hiking and mountain biking. The natural fynbos landscape supports regular sightings of local birdlife. Kingfishers and cormorants are commonly seen along the river, while evenings often bring the calls of the spotted eagle owl, fish eagle and fiery-necked nightjars. Accommodation at Stonehaven River Lodge consists of four private, solar-powered units, each designed to offer private living: Alice’s Cottage (2 sleeper) Features an open plan living area, a well-equipped kitchenette, one bedroom, a bathroom with a shower, an indoor seating area and a private outdoor braai area on an elevated patio with river views.
River Lodge (2 sleeper) An elevated romantic riverside villa features a large bedroom and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and separate bath. It includes a fully equipped kitchen and scullery, a living area and a private outdoor patio, with a braai, overlooking the surrounding garden.
Lodge House (4 sleeper) Features two en-suite bedrooms (showers only). It includes a fully equipped kitchen and scullery, an indoor dining and lounge area, as well as an outdoor patio overlooking the grounds. It also features a mobile braai and outdoor seating.
Ranch House and Boat House (8 sleeper) Offering 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (showers only). At the boat house, there are multiple living areas, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious indoor dining area, and a large outdoor deck with a braai on the riverbank. The maximum capacity across the property is 16 guests, and each unit can be booked independently. However, should guests want to book the entire property exclusively, inquiries can be made directly. Stonehaven River Lodge offers peaceful farm-style accommodation near Stilbaai, with direct river access and a wide range of outdoor recreation opportunities. The property is approximately 150 kilometres from George Airport. Stonehaven River Lodge is situated in a marine reserve and therefore no fishing is allowed.
