Westbrook is one of 20 beautiful, well maintained Blue Flag swimming beaches in South Africa. Blue Flag Beach Certification is awarded once a year to those beaches that are deemed to be safe, clean, environmentally sound, and have adequate facilities and services for tourists. As such, one can expect properly maintained ablution facilities, professionally trained lifeguards, clean water, clean beaches, and safe parking. There is also a boat launching site just further up at the main beach. The beach is protected by shark nets maintained by the KZN Sharks Board. The main tourism centre is the ever developing Ballito which is 7km north of Westbrook, Ballito offers a large variety of shopping, restaurants, nightlife and more beautiful beaches.
Umhlanga’s Gateway shopping centre, is a quick 15 minute drive to the south. The centre offers shopping, restaurants, movie houses, super tubes and a wave house. Umhlanga also offers 2 Blue flag beaches, good nightlife and fine cuisine.
