Overview

Just north of Phalaborwa and adjacent to the magnificent Kruger National Park, Tingala offers a wonderful combination of luxurious accommodation, wild African Bushveld scenery and warm South African hospitality.

For those seeking the exciting sights and sounds that only the Bushveld offers, Tingala is ideally situated as it is on a private conservancy - no neighbours, no human sounds, nothing but the bush. We pride ourselves on the world-class standards of our accommodation and our unsurpassed ambiance, hospitality and friendly personal service. Passionate about animals and the bush, avid birders, and all-round nature lovers, we care deeply about our natural environment and we subscribe to a minimum impact, leave-no-trace ecotourism philosophy.

Tingala Lodge's veranda offers spectacular views of the pristine Bushveld beauty and excellent game viewing opportunities as elephants, antelope, zebra and other animals come to quench their thirst at the three waterholes, a mere stone's throw away from the verandas, whilst the invitingly cool swimming pool and gentle breeze open you up to a world of tranquil luxury in the wild. The self-catering Tingala Bush Camp is completely in the wild, with no fences so nature alone forms the boundaries. It gives you a true African experience as the animals are free to roam right up to the camp. The camp is relaxed and informal and offers you a unique Bushveld accommodation and safari experience at the best possible price.

Tingala Lodge comprises a dining and sitting area, fully equipped kitchen, braai area, 5 comfortable bedrooms that open onto a big open-to-the-bush area that looks out onto the unspoilt bush. Guests are often thrilled by the marvelous sightings of game passing by and the abundant birdlife is spectacular. In the evening one can enjoy the sounds of the African night whilst relaxing on the open veranda, surrounded by nothing but the night bush and stars. This is the place to stay if you are seeking the solitude and tranquility of Africa at its best.

The lodge is available as an exclusive-use lodge on request. Our meals are part of your bush experience because great dining is not just what you eat, it's also where you eat! Breakfast is served on the shady veranda where you can look out into the surrounding early morning Bushveld. Dinners are enjoyed sitting around a log fire under the sweeping canopy of stars. Picnic lunches in the bush are offered on our full day safari game drives and there is nothing to beat a sundowner in the bush on an afternoon safari! We can also provide picnics for self-drive tours.

Tingala Lodge offers all the comforts of a luxury lodge and is an undisturbed Bushveld retreat where you can tune into the sounds of nature and regenerate your soul. With five exclusive suites, this intimate lodge offers an unmatched safari experience where privacy and personalised attention is the hallmark of your stay. With no set schedule in place, you can enjoy the beauty of the African bush at your own pace.

For something different, these activities will round off your total Bushveld experience. A bush walk is a wonderful way to explore the Kruger Park. A once-in-a-lifetime eating experience is a bush braai (BBQ) deep in the Kruger National Park, surrounded by the African night and all its nocturnal animals. Spend a few relaxing hours on board a riverboat cruising on the Olifants River - one of the wildest rivers in South Africa. Looking for a unique, close-to-nature Bushveld experience unlike any other? If so, then join us for a sleepover at the Sable Dam Bird Hide!
