Amava River Lodge – Safari by the Olifants River
At Amava River Lodge, the views turn an ordinary safari into something unforgettable. Perched on a gentle bend of the perennial Olifants River in the far north of the Balule Game Reserve, the camp offers breathtaking upstream and downstream views from its elevated position on the southern riverbank. The river flows through pristine African Wilderness, providing a stunning backdrop for wildlife sightings and pure bush magic.
Each tent is designed to immerse guests in the wild, with only a fine insect-proof mesh separating you from the sights, sounds, and smells of the African bush. The tents are spacious and thoughtfully laid out, featuring king-size beds that can be converted into twins, en-suite bathrooms with outdoor showers, flushing toilets, and hot and cold running water. Large windows, standing fans, and open decks ensure ventilation, light, and uninterrupted views of the river.
Natural materials such as wood and canvas, combined with clean, simple design, create a comfortable and harmonious bush experience. Each tent has its own deck overlooking the river, perfect for sunrise coffee or evening sundowners in complete privacy.
The camp itself is intimate and thoughtfully placed within 5000 hectares of exclusive Wilderness, with eight kilometres of the Olifants River to explore. Guests can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, guided walking trails, or simply relax in the communal areas while taking in the tranquil surroundings.
