Accommodation near The Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway - 4
Experience a cable car trip on the longest monocable way in Africa with uninterrupted 360° panoramic views of the Magaliesburg as well as amazing views over Pretoria and Johannesburg.
The Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway provides an ideal family day trip with lots to do at the base station and at the top. Take time out to spot birds, small animals and the many grasses, flowers, trees and shrubs covering some of the oldest mountains in the world – the Magaliesberg. Kids can wander along the Dassie Loop alkway or play in the special KidZone. Restaurants, fast food stalls and a bar are on site, as well as craft stalls and outside seating areas and bomas.
The Harties Calbeway is closely affiliated with other attractions in the Hartbeespoort area, including The Elephant Sanctuary and the Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary, and has a friendly relationship with the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway in Cape Town.
The original cableway was built in 1973, using materials supplied by Swiss manufacturing company GMD Müller, but was renovated and reopened by new owners in 2010. The new cableway was revamped with new cable cars, galvanised cabling and the cableway was fitted and re-engineered according to Canadian Standards Association specifications.
Touch-screen technology, auto cabin spacing and conveyor programming technology, as well as state-of-the-art cabin locators and switches, were all introduced, making it a modern, comfortable and safe experience on par with international standards.
The cableway now boast 14 hi-tech cable cars which can carry six passengers at a time and are able to transport up to 500 people per hour.
In his address at the official launch of the Harties Aerial Cableway, Minister of Tourism Marthinus van Schalkwyk congratulated the team behind the rejuvenation of the cableway, and stated "Anyone who has been to Switzerland will tell you that the Harties Cableway is up there with the best. "This is a world-class facility and we need many more products like this.

Hartbeespoort
Great place, it was our wedding anniversary, so we went rock climbing (Own gear) at the Nuclear Crag on Africaland property, next to Necsa and enjoyed some white water rafting in the afternoon on the Crocodile River with Paddle Power. They also own a cute little restaurant with delicious food where you get off out of the raft, the Rusty Feather. Loads of little shops and found a Wonderful Portuguese restaurant right on the water at the boat club, next to the zoo, which I'll highly recommend. CHEAP Honey, in the town, driving away from the tunnel, after the Portuguese restaurant. It's solidly worth the stop, it's run by a pharmacist and her hubby.

Hartbeespoort is a lovely place to visit to get away from home. There's lot to do and see. Also, they have a lot of restaurants and shops to visit. The best thing is that its not far to travel and you in the bush and away from the concrete jungle.
