Great Brak River Accommodatie
The Great Brak River is a Western Cape river, not to be confused with the Brak River in Limpopo. It meets the Indian Ocean at a scenic little spot on the Southern Cape’s Garden Route. At its mouth you’ll find the small holiday town of the same name, Great Brak River. This town is a favourite, not least because of its perfect beach setting and ideal climate.
The town of Great Brak River is located almost exactly halfway between Mossel Bay and George, with 30 kilometres between it and George and 27 kilometres between the town and Mossel Bay. This makes it a peaceful spot with a wide variety of activities to keep you busy and one which is easily accessible from Cape Town.
One of the attractions of the Garden Route is its mild weather, a feature from which Great Brak River also benefits. The area is said to experience one of the sunniest climates in the world, with the fewest number of cloudy days per year. The temperatures are warm in summer (but the ocean has a cooling influence which prevents it from getting too hot) and the winters are mild.
Furthermore, the Garden Route is undeniably beautiful, with Great Brak River lying in the foothills of the imposing Outeniqua Mountains and close to many indigenous forests and nature reserves, where the opportunities for mountain biking, bird watching and hiking abound. And that’s before we even mention the beach and river.
Great Brak River offers visitors numerous beaches in and around the town. These beaches are defined by the soft sand in which to bury your toes and the pleasant sea temperatures, and apart from chilling on the beach all the usual ocean-centric activities you can imagine, from swimming to whale-watching are possible nearby.
