Port Elizabeth Central Accommodatie
Port Elizabeth is the third largest city in South Africa, and can be found on the Eastern Cape coast at Algoa Bay. It is notoriously windy but the famously friendly population more than make up for it. As with most cities, the central area is not only the oldest and arguably the most characterful part of the city, but is also very convenient. Port Elizabeth Central isn’t much different.
Central PE (as Port Elizabeth is often abbreviated) is surrounded by the neighbourhoods of Humewood, Walmer, Mill Park and Mount Croix as well as Algoa Bay with its harbour and waterfront complex. The central area is filled with historic landmarks and buildings, beautiful architecture as well as some fine restaurant offerings and other attractions too.
One of the best attractions in central PE is the bell tower, built in 1923 to commemorate the 1820 settlers. Apart from providing insight into Port Elizabeth’s past, the bell tower also offers pretty great views across the city if you can make it to the top.
There is an old fort, Fort Frederick, in the area too and the building which houses the town hall is worth writing home about for its old, artful design. There are also a few art galleries in the downtown area. Perhaps the best part is though that what you can’t find within the central area, you can find near the central area, such as the Bayworld Museum, Snake Park and Oceanarium in Humewood and the Boardwalk complex.
