Pretoria North Suburb Logement

As the name implies, the suburb of Pretoria North is situated in the northern reaches of South Africa’s de facto capital. It borders a number of areas such as Annlin, Wolmer and Wonderboom and despite officially falling within the boundaries of Tshwane (the official name for Pretoria) possesses a very different character from the rest of the city.

Part of the reason for Pretoria North developing its own vibe-apart from the rest of Pretoria, is its relative isolation from the rest of the city. This isolation is not just caused by the fact that it is so far north as to be virtually on the boundary of the urban area and open farmlands, but also by the ridge of mountains which runs west to east and acts as a physical divider between Pretoria North and the more central suburbs.

As a result of this physical boundary, the suburb of Pretoria North feels more like a town in its own right than a suburb of a large urban area. It is flat and dusty by nature but there are plenty of trees to make up for this and people tend to keep their simple houses in pretty good nick. There are no high rise buildings – in fact buildings over 1 story tall are somewhat of a rarity, and if you look towards the south, you are confronted by the dry rocky, undeveloped ridge which divides Pretoria’s central suburbs and the north.

Some of the main attractions in the area include the Wonderboom Nature Reserve, which is home to a 1000 year old wild fig tree, and the Ondersterpoort Faculty of Veterinary Science – a faculty of the University of Pretoria. The slower pace in this area is also attractive to many people, as is the fact that the N4 to Mpumalanga and the Kruger National Park is very close.
