Pretoria / Tshwane Verblyf - 19
Pretoria, or Tshwane as it is officially known, is an unassuming but important city - it is the executive (administrative) and de facto national capital. The Pretoria climate is particularly temperate, and in spring the city lives up to it's nickname of 'Jacaranda City' when all the streets explode in the distinctive purple blossoms. Pretoria has a population of more than 2.3 million people and is situated in the northern part of Gauteng Province, just 55 kilometres from Johannesburg and a 4.5 hour drive to the Kruger National Park. However, if Kruger seems to far there are some great game lodges and resorts in Pretoria itself.
Due to the number of government departments and embassies based there, Pretoria is a hot-spot for travelling business people and diplomats. The city is set in a grid pattern, making it easy to navigate if you're driving. In addition, the Gautrain and the Gautrain buses run from the stations in Pretoria CBD and Hatfield to the suburbs, so it's one of the easiest South African cities to get around. If you are in Pretoria for business, there are also a wealth of B&Bs and guest houses to choose from.
Pretoria has the distinction of being one of South Africa’s leading academic cities and is home to University of Pretoria (the largest residential University in South Africa), the Tshwane University of Technology and UNISA (the largest distance education university in the world). Reflecting this, there are a number of budget accommodation options around Pretoria that wouldn't break the bank even for a student!
If you're travelling Pretoria just for fun, you're in luck as there is loads to see and do; from beautiful scenery, nightlife, arts and culture to fine dining. There are also numerous self-catering establishments conveniently located near all the major points of interest you may want to visit.
Pretoria is a city rich with history and heritage. It houses the Voortrekker Monument which commemorates South Africa's pioneer history and the Union Buildings, which is the seat of government and houses the offices of the president of South Africa. Another good heritage site is the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History, which houses the Sterkfontein fossil, extracted from the Cradle of Humankind.
You can enjoy Pretoria's great outdoors at the acclaimed Pretoria Zoo or at the Botanical Gardens with it's amazing fauna and flora. If you're a rugby enthusiast, take the opportunity to catch a game at the notorious Loftus Versfeld. Just don't say anything bad about the Blue Bulls!

Hennops Park
Central location close to shops, highways and fuel stations. I'm from Ireland and found it very cold in winter; perhaps because it's so close to the river. Other than that, no complaints about the area.
